Khenchen Tsewang Gyatso

The Ottawa Palyul Dharma Centre, Palyul Dhonyag Shedrup Ling, was formally inaugurated by Khenchen Tsewang Gyatso Rinpoché on June 29, 2008. It is the manifestation of the sincere intentions of many people who have come together to form the Ottawa Palyul Sangha. This sangha is under the spiritual direction of Khenchen Tsewang Gyatso Rinpoché, the primary representative to the west of His Holiness Pema Norbu (Penor) Rinpoché, the current throneholder of the Palyul lineage and former supreme head of the Nyingma School (please see the main Palyul website www.palyul.org for more information).
Although the main liturgical practices of the Ottawa Palyul Sangha follow the Nyingma School of Tibetan Buddhism, the culture of the Centre is one of inclusiveness and non-sectarianism. It is a place for the study and practice of the Buddha Dharma in all its richness and variety. It is a place where one can raise questions about Buddhism and debate the merits of Buddhist thought. It is a place where one can find a path to spiritual realization that has been followed and proven effective by many in the past. Finally, it is a place where one can find support for the difficult task of blending the Dharma with everyday life.
The Ottawa Palyul Centre is also dedicated to the support of the refugee children cared for in Penor Rinpoché’s monastery in South India and to nurturing the Dharma in Canada. It is our sincere wish that this Centre will be of benefit to its members, to its surrounding community, and to all beings.
